    Applied Dreams, Italy

In 2002 our partner Jan-Christoph Zoels coined the term Applied Dreams at the meanwhile closed Interaction Design Institute Ivrea. Until 2006 he led the Applied Dreams initiative resulting in over a dozen innovation workshops.

Applied Dreams were fast-paced innovation workshops wherein Interaction Ivrea faculty and students collaborate with an industry partner.

A company framed an interaction design challenge and provided a context for a problem solution. As a result, the partner obtained new concepts and approaches from the participating students, who in turn had the opportunity to gain experience in the rapid iteration of design solutions.

The industry sponsor participated closely in the workshop, gaining the latest interaction design knowledge.

This model proved to be successful, resulting in new product and services prototypes from a diverse international student body. Two patents are pending.
